Martin J. Brockstedt, AIA, NCARB - President

As President, Martin maintains an active involvement in each project of the firm. His unique blend of work experience has equipped him with the skills needed to expertly handle the many types of building projects encountered in the industry today.

Mr. Brockstedt began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As a Captain, and commander of a reinforced military construction company, he was engaged in military construction projects throughout Southeast Asia from 1965 through1969 for which he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Upon completion of his military service, Mr. Brockstedt obtained in-depth architectural experience in several New York based architectural firms managing both residential and commercial projects.

Mr. Brockstedt also served for six years as a construction manager for a subsidiary of Starrett Housing Corporation, a major New York based real estate developer, where he supervised the construction of new housing and the rehabilitation of former high rise hotels for alternative uses. During his years as a construction manager, Mr. Brockstedt gained valuable knowledge in cost management, new construction methods, and governmental review and approval processes.

For the past thirty years, Mr. Brockstedt has practiced architecture as a principal in, first, a corporation he co-founded and, subsequently, his present firm. He has, at the request of the Commissioner of the NYC Department of Buildings, conducted educational fire safety seminars for the Departments’ examiners and inspectors in all five boroughs. His broad range of knowledge concerning NYC building codes and construction methods has enabled him to contribute to the resolution of disputes between Condominium boards and Sponsors under the guidelines established by the Law Office of the N.Y.S. Attorney General.

Mr. Brockstedt has been a Registered Architect since 1972, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (A.I.A.). He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in 1965. He is licensed in the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Illinois, and is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Mr. Brockstedt is also a member of various professional organizations including: The New York State Association of Architects, The New York Society of Architects, The Precast Concrete Institute, The Society of American Registered Architects, and the Construction Specifications Institute.
